Pack and Unpack

Last Friday, on my way to work, I came across several cars double parked, with their hazards on, and people loading the trunk with all kinds of things. From folding chairs, to trolley bags, huge bags filled with food, to barbeque grills, everyone was getting ready to go away for the long weekend. There is something extremely festive about people packing for a trip. The smiles on their faces, the excitement they exude, it’s all so infectious that even a passerby can sense the happiness, the enthusiasm and the anticipation.

And then, two days ago, I again saw several cars parked in the same manner, but this time, out came the bags, and the chairs, the strollers and the coolers. An end to a legendary break, no doubt!

Early to Bed, Oh Wait!

Last week at work I received a very strange phone call from my mother. “You don’t have a bed anymore,” she informed me.

“What?!” I cried out in surprise and confusion.

She proceeded to explain that she had removed my bed from my room so that my sister’s friend, who stays with us, could finally sleep on a bed.

So when I walked into my room that evening, I saw a mattress on the floor where my bed used to be.
The plus side is that I get a new bed.

The disadvantage? It is very hard to get out of bed in the morning when there is no actual ‘bed’ to ‘get out of.’
