There are two kinds of people in this world: those who learn from their mistakes, and those who don't.
The latter insist on repeating them over and over, claiming each time, that this particular situation is different from the ones before. They never stop and think that they went through the same emotions, the same actions and the same thought process when previously faced with the same predicament.
How can you, then, as a bystander, make them see the light? In my experience, there isn't a way to shift their focus, since they are so adamant about being right.
Then, you stand back and let them fall and learn on their own.
